Licensed Psychologist for the Barnahus Team at BUP Trauma Unit

Barnahus is a collaboration between authorities for children suspected of being victims of crimes committed by relatives. The BUP Barnahus team currently consists of eight psychologists who are organizationally part of the BUP Trauma Unit. The Barnahus assignment has expanded since January 1st, and the BUP Barnahus team now collaborates with all Barnahus in Stockholm, namely Barnahus city located in Södermalm, Barnahus Nord in Sollentuna, Barnahus Huddinge/Botkyrka in Huddinge, Barnahus Södertälje, Barnahus Nacka, and Barnahus Haninge. The work in the Barnahus team mainly takes place at the Barnahus in Södermalm as well as in Huddinge and Sollentuna. Joint meetings are held at BUP Trauma Unit in Södermalm. With the expanded assignment, we are now looking for an additional team member. The BUP Barnahus team is one of five teams at the BUP Trauma Unit, where the other teams work with longer treatment contacts at the BUP Trauma Unit. The unit is part of the intensive outpatient care section.

Method development is ongoing, where the Barnahus team has developed a methodological support for child psychiatric crisis support, which is compiled in a methodology book and three workbooks. A research study is underway to evaluate the child psychiatric crisis support provided at BUP Barnahus.

Job Description

The staff of the Barnahus team works closely with colleagues from the police, social services, prosecutors, and pediatric medicine. Our assignment consists of several parts, one of which is to participate in consultation meetings with other professionals to plan for police interviews with children and to highlight the child's needs from different perspectives. The team offers shorter crisis support contacts to crime-victimized children, youth, and their families, which includes child psychiatric assessments. The job also includes outreach work such as consultation to partners and educational initiatives. The position involves work at the Barnahus in Södermalm as well as one of the other Barnahus.

Barnahus is a complex operation where continuous development work together with other professionals is an important part, which requires an interest in collaboration and a flexible approach.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed psychologist with experience in child psychiatric assessment and treatment work, as well as an interest in trauma-related issues and crime-victimized children.

Experience in collaborating with social services and the justice system is meritorious, as well as experience and interest in working with our specific target group. You should have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing and enjoy the role of educator and consultant to colleagues in various organizations.

Education and experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma treatment, and experience in meeting families in crisis are meritorious.

Personal Qualities

You are secure, stable, and have self-awareness. To succeed in the role, you need to be proactive and have good collaboration skills. You should have a good ability to structure your own work. The multifaceted assignment places high demands on flexibility, the ability to switch contexts, and a desire to develop. We place great importance on personal suitability.

BUP Trauma Unit is part of BUP Stockholm. Child and adolescent psychiatry in Stockholm (BUP) offers specialized psychiatric care for children and adolescents under 18 years of age within the Stockholm County. We are part of the Stockholm County healthcare area, which is a provider within Region Stockholm. Together, we are over 1,200 employees within BUP Stockholm who meet over 22,000 children, adolescents, and their families each year.

The position will be filled provided that it is not needed for internal relocation, according to current regulations.

For patient-related work within the Stockholm County healthcare area:

  • background checks are applied before hiring decisions according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for background checks during employment.
  • employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment health examination according to current directives, which is done through occupational health services before hiring.
  • in addition to Swedish professional licensure, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required. The same requirements apply to non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
